ahora en el entre
SOLO EXHIBIT AT CENTRO CULTURAL DE ESPAÑA SANTO DOMINGO (CCESD) , DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, 29.03.2025 - 01.06.2025
In collaboration with Chiquita Room (Barcelona), curated by Orlando Isaac & Laura González Palacios
This exhibition explores the idea of origin, thresholds and the silence that accompanies the transitory moments between cycles. Using local materials such as coconut mesh and the adenanthera pavonina seed (coralito), and combining them with my own craft techniques that I have developed over a period of nine years of work, I present a series of sculptures and site-specific installations that contemplate and honour the architecture of the Colegio de Gorjón located at the mouth of the Ozama River, now the Centro Cultural de España in Santo Domingo.
With this return to my own origin, I invite the visitor to consider ‘the in-between’ as a potential place of introspection and discovery. From an anthropocosmic perspective, Ahora en el entre [Now in the In-betweenness] highlights the interconnection between humans and their environment, between the material plane and the spiritual dimension. The exhibition presents the point of origin as a great navel of the universe that is both empty and containing; a space-time centred between vertical and horizontal axes that point to the present moment as the eternal meeting of the beginning and the end.

Silere
This exhibition room owns the Latin verb silere as its name, placing us before a space of structural contemplation. Here, silence is not absence, but the presence that allows the manifestation of the essential. The collection of works here reaches the culmination of a research that has lasted almost a decade. In their formal precision, the modular compositions open the threshold to a macrocosmic dimension. The pieces function as symbolic portals, where the material and the spiritual realms dialogue in balance. In this space of synthesis, we remember that each ending cycle leaves an imprint on matter and that movement also gestates within stillness.

Navel as Vessel
2020 - 2025, Ceramics, metal, pebbles, water from the Ozama river spring, 180 x 180 x 73 cm.
This sculpture-fountain was inaugurated with water from the source of the Ozama River, a river that runs through the city of Santo Domingo and flows next to the old 16th-century Gorjón school, the current headquarters of the Spanish Cultural Center. The piece is located where a water well once stood and connects both exhibition spaces Silere and Moriviví. Symbolic to this exhibition which refers to origin and thresholds, this piece presents the point of origin as the navel of the universe, simultaneously a void and a container, centered in the present moment as the eternal meeting of beginning and end.
Moriviví
We enter an ecosystem that amplifies the senses. Inspired by the shy plant that folds to the touch and revives over time, this room is a territory of gestation that evokes the interconnection between the body and the landscape. I enable here a laboratory of the organic, where living matter is in the process of transformation. The elements refer to the cycle that begins and remind us that everything in nature is in a perpetual transition. Each seed contains the latent possibility of what will be.
Lo germinal
2025, Adenanthera pavonina seeds, ceramics, sand, metal. 180 x 180 x 11 cm
A single seed as the potential of what’s to be, one fertile possibility among many. This piece alludes to my childhood home, Lanza del Norte, where the seeds and sand were collected as a community and family. It alludes to a navel, to a seed as origin.
